30th of the month

Rent’s due and so is the travel video I got from the library last week (Going Places: San Francisco). It’s also a bad diet day because my mom is meeting us for lunch (she usually comes out once a week) and that means Restaurant Food. The Weather Network doesn’t seem to think the pollen count is anything special but my allergies have been going nuts for almost a week now. When I break down and take a Benadryl I end up asleep within half an hour, which is a bit of a problem at the office.

8 weeks

My parents leave for Ireland four weeks from tomorrow, and they’ll be gone 17 days. What a vacation! When they get back it will only be 10 days before I pack up their luggage again and take it on my trip.

Last night I dreamed that I worked at the video store near my place and I got fired by Gene from United States of Tara, just because he didn’t like me. So I went to his boss, the head honcho or whatever, and gave  him this big spiel (while changing my socks and shoes, for some reason) about how it’s always been my ambition to work at a video store and talk about movies with strangers. He gave me my job back and I went and told creepy Gene to suck it.

15 pounds

Posted in me bits at 6:11 am by theletdown

So I was at the family doctor last week for my monthly “how are you feeling?” “fine” “OK, come back next month” appointment and when I mentioned I’d been sticking to the diet and working out almost every day, he had me get on the scale. I’m down 15 pounds since my physical at the end of January. Woo! Since I haven’t had any episodes in quite a while and I’m working and sleeping normally, I “graduated” to bi-monthly visits.

I still can’t fit back into the few smaller-sized shirts I bought the last time I dropped some weight, but they’re long-sleeved so not much use for the next few months anyway. I’m much more pumped about being able to jog on the treadmill (I’m up to equal parts walking and jogging, though not at high speeds or anything) and to be actually using the 10-pound dumbbells I’ve had for more than ten years and have barely touched. For me this is pretty good progress.

67 sleeps

Excellent weekend. Drove to T.O. yesterday, had lunch with T. and spent the afternoon/evening with Dave. Stayed overnight at Dave’s, which is a small apartment (on the 27th floor of a building he describes as “a gay cruise ship turned on its side”) and OH MY GOD THE VIEW. Wish my camera wasn’t broken so I could share. He can see the lake, the CN Tower, half the frikkin’ city. It’s exhilerating.

Back home this morning, then to a baby shower for adorable little Oliver this afternoon. Corrected some spelling mistakes on the blog (thanks, T.) and got caught up on my usual weekend stuff. I’m having a hard time concentrating on anything but my trip — there’s so much to plan and do and buy before June 24!
